When and where is NIJam 2017

The Jamboree will be held between 29th July and 5th August 2017at Crawfordsburn Scout Centre, Helen’s Bay Bangor BT19 1JT

How old do I have to be to attend as a participant?

The Jamboree is open to both Scouts and Guides aged between 10 and a half and 15

How much does it cost to bring my group to NiJam?

The cost per participant is £170 and this includes all Activities, Camping, Jamboree Scarf, Badge and T-Shirt .The price excludes transport to and from the Jamboree site and food.

How much does it cost to come as a Leader?

£100 for Leaders. This price excludes transport to and from the Jamboree site and food.

What about Explorers?

Explorers can attend on a work and play basis where they will help out as staff for 3 days and have 3 days of separate activities. They will have their own subcamp and be fully catered. Cost £170 (Numbers are limited)

Can Explorers come by themselves without a Leader?

Yes (As Work and Play staff)

I am now over 18 can I still come?

Yes of course you are welcome to apply as staff.

What happens if my numbers change?

Groups will pay an initial non refundable deposit and will be able to alter numbers up to the closing date.

What activities will there be?

Onsite Activities, Wild Zone, Monopoly Run, Water Activities, Full Day Trip. Evening Activities etc.

As a Leader can I take part in activities?

Activities are just for young people but you will be able to attend the offsite days including the full day trip.

Will we need to organise our own transport during the camp?

No once on site we will take you wherever you need to be for organised day trips and offsite activities.

Can I bring my child with me?

Yes, but they will be your responsibility unless we have space in the staff childcare facility, which cannot be guaranteed, and will be at a small extra cost.

Can I pitch my tents early?

Yes there will be an opportunity to pitch tents in the 2 days before the Jamboree but no one can stay onsite until the start of the Jamboree.

Do I need a DVB/AccessNI Check?

Yes all adults over 18 must have a recognised check.

Will there be a supermarket on site?

No but we will run a free shuttle bus to a local supermarket (Tesco)

Staff

How old do I have to be to attend as Staff?

All Staff must be over 18 with the exception of the Explorers on the work and play programme.

Do UK Staff need a DVB/Access NI check?

All adults at the Jamboree need some form of recognised check and will be required to attend an arranged child protection course organised by the NIjam welfare team.

Can I bring my child?

Yes. There will we child care facilities for staff children under 10 and a half years old (additional fees apply)

How much will it cost Staff to come to the Jamboree?

Staff fees will be £110 This includes Scarf, Badge, 2 T-shirts, Camping and full catering.

Are there additional costs

No! However there will be an opportunity to purchase merchandising etc.
